SitRelief Shorts

Postby kindofblue » Fri Sep 18, 2009 5:31 pm

Hi all,
I'm taking the liberty of copying this from the Advrider site. Here's their announcement:

We developed and clinically tested a discreet, padded undergarment, SitRelief Shorts, for multiple groups of patients with sitting pain.

Several motorcyclists found us online, tried the shorts and provided very positive feedback. One long distance rider recommended we post here at Adventure Rider.

The men’s version of SitRelief Shorts is available online at http://www.sitrelief.com or can be ordered by phone at 714-323-2116. The woman’s version is now available (4/25/10 edit).

If you are a long distance rider with sitting pain, I believe we can help make your ride more comfortable. Try them and let us know what you think.

Financial disclaimer: I'm impressed with the shorts and recently when offered the chance to invest in the company, I took it! 8) So I now have a vested interest in the company.

Reid,
Since your now have a vested interest in this product, might I suggest you "expand" the product line to include waist sizes larger than 36. I'm guessing there' are many riders with >36" waists that would like to try the shorts. Maybe if your sales volume went up you could lower the price a bit!

XL sizes for waists >36"

Postby kindofblue » Sat Sep 19, 2009 8:02 am

Hi Steve,
Prescient that you should ask. They are planning an XL size and the meeting with their pattern maker is 9/21 to discuss what that waist size should be.

Once they determine that, I'm going to put up a poll on the Advrider site asking for riders with that waist size range to measure their leg circumferences so that we know how big to make that portion of the shorts. I'll post a note about it here when I put it up on that forum.

The company has only recently (at my suggestion) considered marketing these shorts to anyone other than the medical market in which waist sizes >36" are rare indeed.

More anon...

Umm, Steve, I wouldn't say that folks who've been on long-term immuno suppressant drugs (e.g., HIV/AIDs pts., cancer pts) have a lot of disposable income.

$70 really is a good price for a pair of shorts that are well built w/medical grade foam, and made in the U.S. Plus this is a small start-up company and doesn't have the economies of large orders to their suppliers to get industrial strength discounts on the materials, etc...And heck, a good pair of bicycling shorts cost that much and they're made in China!

If your target consumers are HIV/AIDS pts., cancer pats. then good on you. Probably plenty of potential customers to get a small start-up going. It's just that you've put this in the vendors area on a motorcycle club forum where I can assure you that waist sizes > 36 are not rare. Just seems to me that with the addition of two or three larger sizes, your potential for sales would be much greater as it would encompass a much "larger" customer base. Looks like a great product and I wish you and your fellow investors the best!

The shorts you showed me must certainly make the ride much more comfy but the padding was much thinner than I thought. Since I don't own a pair I can't provide feed back from actual use, but I konw you own them and give them high praise. Maybe another 1/4" could further enhance the comfort...something the manufacturer might consider.

Willco but don't hold your breath. These shorts have been 5 years in the design phase! More isn't always better.

XL & XXLs now available

Postby kindofblue » Sun Dec 06, 2009 6:49 am

Hi Steve and all,

Well, you got your wish.

I promised to let you know when the XL (36-38) and XXL (38-40) sizes would be available. They are now available. They only made a limited run though to see if there's enough demand for these sizes, 10 each. So if you're interested, don't delay. If there is enough demand, they'll make more of these sizes in January.
