Club Birthday July 31st

Postby NMCruiser » Thu Jul 22, 2010 7:13 pm

Well it is not exactly the Club Birthday but it is close.

On Saturday July 31st around 11:00 AM we will be meeting at the Yucca Group Picnic area at the Oak Flat Picnic area on South 14. This is the same place that we have held the picnic for the past several years. This is the clubs one pot luck affair. The club provides the meat for the Barbie (as in Q not Doll) and some drinks (Soft Drinks and water) So bring side dishes deserts and the like.

There will also be an opportunity to sign-up to help out at the rally. We are always looking for some willing volunteers to help out at the Rally. If you sign-up now you can get the opportunity of your choice and not what is left over.

There will also be a brief business meeting to let folks know what the club is up to, what sorts of things to expect at the rally, and perhaps a preview of this years rally shirt

Hope to see ya'll there. Why don't we go ahead and have our traditional role call so that I can know how many bratz/burgers to get.

Matt - the area used to be called 'oak flat', as it read at the entrance. Have they changed the name? Might be useful for someone who hasn't been there before.

Matt - I see you changed the name from oak springs to oak flat. Will take some confusion out for 1st timers.

Should be the usual fun time.

Matt,

Next time put up a Poll and you won't have to count how many emails, and how many people in each email are going...

Nice Poll - guess Admins can create after the second post has been made...thanks for doing that!

I'd suggest making it so people can change their entry in case something comes up, at least they can have the opportunity to update it.

I've never been to this picnic area. Can you post directions, please?

Thank you for the map.

I submitted a vote for riding attending solo but...

One look will tell you that I really count as two people... :scatter:

So how many people will be attending? Do I bring two watermelons or three? one dozen doughnuts or three? one can of beans or more? Who has the most accurate answer?

Asian Broccoli Slaw

Postby kindofblue » Fri Jul 30, 2010 5:04 pm

Hi Dave,
I'll be there but it's looking like Shannon won't. I'll be bringing her Asian Broccoli Slaw salad though. And since we often get asked for the recipe I'll post it here now:

1 12 oz bag broccoli slaw (TJ's or Smith's usually has it in the pre-bagged lettuce section)
1 cup dried cranberries
1 cup unsalted peanuts
1 cup Spicy Peanut dressing (I usually use more. TJ's has an excellent Spicy Peanut Vinagrette in the cold case next to the lettuce)
2 Tbl chopped cilantro (I usually add a lot more).

Toss all in a bowl and serve or put in the fridge for later. Yummm.
Warmest regards,

Reid Hester

Lone Amigo is the ratfink. I will NOT be attending tomorrow's picnic, I have not yet mastered the art of bi-location.
