gs fuel gage

Postby ed&carol » Thu Jul 22, 2010 8:34 pm

I found out today why my fuel gage didn't read correctly. The fuel pump and sensor are located on opposite sides of the tank. The sides are connected via a quick disconnect. This disconnect had failed, resulting in a reading of half full. The tank actually had about 2 gallons in the gage side but no fuel in the pump side. Laying the bike on it's side or plugging in the disconnect would have given me enough fuel to make it to a gas station.

Wow, and you've been dealing with this for how long?

The fuel gage since the first maintenance. The crossover tube is a recent issue that clouded the fuel gage issue ( the dealer did recalibrate the gage again) .
